The purpose of this site is to raise awareness and garner support for Bill C-279, Lindsey's Law. The gaping hole in existing DNA legislation will be filled by allowing the collection of DNA from missing persons or their close relatives for the purpose of cross-referencing DNA from crime scenes and unidentified human remains. This legislation will provide answers for grieving families, justice for the victims and put violent criminals behind bars.

I was pleasantly surprised that I received a response to my inquiry to a missing persons DNA Data Bank. I'm very please to see the government is actually working toward solving the issue. I'm not happy about the foot dragging and BS excuses (I'm not that patient a guy). I recently heard on the news about a grandmother from China that was being screwed around by immigration. She was trying to get here to be at her grandsons bedside. The young boy was badly burned in a house fire and was near death in the hospital. Amazingly and rightfully the Minister Responsible in less than 24 hours of new airing had done whatever they do and Gramma was able to come to Canada to be at her grandson's bedside. My point is when it's important enough and the public cries out long and loud, it's simply amazing what can be done. I appreciate this issue may be seen as more complicated, but is it really. Collecting samples doing some tests and even if we can't have a fancy searchable database right away, we'd at least be gathering the information needed. And is it really all that complicated to set up a searchable database. Simply make it voluntary for families of missing people to provide samples for DNA and allow authorized agencies, RCMP and other police departments access. I'm sure the government has a computer or two in storage somewhere that could be put to good used. And I'll bet they have or have access to the tekkies to get it up and running. The problem as I see it is governments like to make thing complicated and expensive. Without your help they'll be studying this issue for years to come. Please write your MP today and get a fire under their butt. They work for us, so let's not forget to tell them what we want!
